I spend a lot of time each day answering similar questions via email, so it makes sense to provide answers to the most frequent requests here. If you don't find what you're looking for, feel free to email your question.... but not until you're sure the answer isn't on this page ;o)
| Q: Is this site really free? What's the catch? | ||
The sole reason for starting this web site was that I couldn't find a free dating site that was any good in my opinion. Whilst I acknowledge there are some things that only a subscription based site can afford to provide, I figured there was a lot that I could do, without charging members or offering a restricted service. The site is paid for by commercial advertisers, sponsors, the photo scanning service and voluntary contributions. We also hope after trying out this site you might also like to join our other UK dating sites cupid.co.uk and Midsummer's Eve
| Q: I can't log in, what am I doing wrong? | ||
It's vital that you enter the logon details exactly as written in the password reminder email. Remember that accounts which are idle for more than 60 days are automatically removed from the system, so if you've not visited for a while then it's possible you'll need to sign up for a new account. If you see a page saying "Internal Error 500", then there is a problem with the server, so come back later.
| Q: Can I temporarily remove my advert? | ||
Many people want to take their advert off the site when they're conversing with someone they really like, but are reluctant because they'd have to create a new account if it didn't work out. In fact, when you select the "Delete Account" option in the main menu, your account is marked as "closed" but your details exist out of sight in the database for a further 60 days before being completely removed. This is to help with investigations when required by the Police and ISPs when tracking down fraudsters and con artists. During that 60 day period, you can re-activate your account simply by logging back in yourself. You'll be prompted for the "activation code" again, a reminder of which you can get from that page.
| Q: Why was my photo rejected? | ||
To be included in your advert, a photo needs to show your face, many people forget that. I don't allow nudity, but still some people send in photographs just showing their private parts, so after having a laugh and possibly emailing them to my mates, I just delete them. By the way, if you don't want me to send your nude photo to my mates, DON'T send it to me in the first place - got that?!
| Q: Why is my mailbox limited to 100 messages? | ||
It costs me a small fortune in hosting charges to run this site and holding huge quantities of email simply adds to that, therefore the limit is set at 100 to keep my costs reasonable! Remember that messages in your "Sent" folder count towards this total, so consider removing some of those to make more room if you need. You can elect to use DIRECTmail instead and have messages sent to your normal mailbox to avoid this limit if you wish.
